Description

The VULCAN NEO smart helmet is a new generation of firefighter personal protective equipment that combines complete head and face protection with thermal imaging technology. Its helmet-mounted camera module provides thermal vision through dense smoke and darkness, helping firefighters locate casualties, seats of fire and hot spots faster. The module carries international ATEX certification for use in explosive atmospheres — a vital capability for oil, gas and petrochemical sites.

Helmet construction

  • Shell: a light, tough fibreglass-reinforced shell made by thermoplastic injection moulding, available in all colours including photoluminescent finishes, with reflective strips.
  • Face shield: gold-coated or clear polycarbonate shield, scratch-resistant and anti-fog, with infrared (IR) protection; it retracts fully into the helmet.
  • Eye protector: an inner clear or smoked polycarbonate visor that can be lowered when needed.
  • Inner lining: aramid-fabric lining that is comfortable and easy to clean.
  • Size adjustment: a rotating-knob system for precise head-size fitting without tools.
  • Neck protection: heat- and flame-resistant neck curtain in several versions, including aluminised.
  • Attachments: standard fixings for breathing-apparatus masks and torches, plus side covers in various colours.

Thermal camera module

The camera module consists of the camera, a connection plate, the main bracket and mounting screws, and installs easily on the helmet. Its ATEX certification allows use where flammable gases and vapours may be present.

Applications

  • Industrial fire brigades at refineries and petrochemical plants
  • Municipal and airport fire stations
  • Search and rescue in smoke-filled spaces
  • Emergency response teams (ERT) on industrial sites
